Back of DH's first Xylitol mitten.

DH's first Xylitol mitten just needs a thumb.

Hoping to get this pair done for my last FO of 2013!

Latvian braid cast on my way on Xylitol mitts for DH.

I didn't understand the pattern directions (too tired from work, I guess) so I did my own version. Now the designer has posted expanded directions which I'll use on the next pair -my class sample.

DH's Christmas gift 2013.

STR in Wonderful Goodness, a color he picked out at Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival this past September. His usual pattern - k2 p2.

Oldest niece's Multnomah shawlette blocking, will mail it next week.

Finally got the shawlette done, washed and pinned it out last night. I think by the end of the day it will be dry. This is the third time I've knit this pattern - it's a great go-to pattern for a quick gift. Definitely a pattern to have in one's library.

Now to get back to DH's socks so he can have a wrapped present under the tree Tuesday night, lol. I asked him for a box of dark chocolates under the tree, as I'm driving my presents for the next year, hehehe.

Toasty Twist first sock done.

I've decided to gift these to my brother for his Christmas present. I can't ask him what size he wears so I'm using my best guess for size.

La Joie du Printemps mittens finished.

Graceful pose showing finished mittens. Will wash them tonight after dinner. So happy to have them finished for the KAL on Ravelry!

Oddball socks for DH

These use up the left overs from my Whovian Argyles socks and DH loves the two colors together. I have enough other left overs to make him another pair for Christmas.

Crocheting second side of Sirkler sleeve steek.

I use a size C crochet hook with fingering weight yarns for crocheted steeks.

Saturday, October 19, 2013

First sleeve steeks crocheted on Sirkler sleeves.

Both sides crocheted, will be cut open after other side is done, then sleeve seams will be sewn.

Le Joie du Printemps first mitten

Nearing the top decreases and loving how the sock yarns are working in this pattern.

Facings on Sirkler sleeves

I used one strand on each sleeve so the facings have the same number of rows.

STR Somewhere Under the Rainbow LW

Planning to use this yarn for Toasty Twist Socks KAL in Socks That Rawk!! Group on Ravelry.

Thumb on left Joie du Printemps mitten

I'm picking up in the outside leg of the stitch below the round I'm working on and really like how it's looking in the STR LW yarns. It's giving a nice crisp line to the edge of the thumb gusset.

Large circles chart finished!

Next step is the flower chart and then the facing knit back and forth. Getting close to finishing!

Tuesday, October 01, 2013

La Joie du Printemps mitten first cuff done.

It's a good thing I decided to go down to size zero dpns for these mittens - ones would have been too big. My gauge at this point is about nine stitches to the inch, while the pattern calls for ten to the inch with fingering weight yarn. My hands are large, so this will work out well. I just need to make sure my gauge doesn't relax. After all the sweaters I've been working on the last nine months, it's nice to work on something quick for a change.

DH's plain vacation socks finished!

Knitting plain socks is one thing I can do while home sick with a cold and not (usually!) screw up! DH is happy with his new socks.

Halfway through large circles chart.

Got halfway through the large circles chart tonight while enjoying my last day of vacation. Hope to get this chart finished this week - I can almost feel myself wearing a new sweater!

Yarns and pattern for Octoberrrrrrr Mitten KAL

Ready to cast on 10-01-13 for start of KAL. I'm using some sock yarns left over from finishing the toes of socks. The gold will be the background color and the bright green the design color.

Friday, September 27, 2013

Body of first Zemgale mitten finished!

I'll run in the top ends today and then set this aside until later so I can do the Octoberrrrr Mitten KAL on Ravelry.

Zemgale mitten progress 9-23-13.

I've decided that I will do the second mitten, but this winter, after I get some other mittens done in time for the KAL on Ravelry. I think I'm just getting burned out fighting to knit on these in a bouncing, swaying car, but I can't face the second mitten right away. I'm going to finish this one except for the thumb. I've noticed that my tension is looser where I'm carrying four colors while bouncing along, so I'll have to match that tension on the second mitten. Also, I tried catching long carries in the four color sections and it really messes up the tension and the evenness of the knitting, so I quit. Since I'm using Shetland wool, it will stick to itself easily and the long strands shouldn't be a problem in the finger area.

First Zemgale mitten halfway to the tip from the thumb.

Very sore fingers from working in this in a bouncing car over mountain and desert roads! But I'm making good progress so it balances out.

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Past the thumb hold stitches!

While on the road and at stops I was able to make good progress on my first mitten. I put 25 stitches for the thumb on a piece of waxed dental floss, so it will be easier to pick them up to work the thumb. Now I'm doing the next section, with three and four colors in the rounds.

Past halfway on main chart!

Making good progress today on my Zemgale mittens - over an inch knit while riding in the car!

Whovian Argyle socks

Whovian Argyle socks by BlueDragon2
Whovian Argyle socks, a photo by BlueDragon2 on Flickr.

Cast off the second sock tonight - so happy to have them finished! Notice in the picture that the design is not centered, this is how the designer set the pattern up. It gives the design more interest, to me. I can't wait to wear them to knitting group in two weeks!

Incendia MCN worsted weight from Three Fates Yarns

I had Stephania custom dye three skeins for me to design kilt hose with. I think it's time they went for my mind's eye to my needles! I'm suggesting a Mystery KAL on the Celtic Art Lovers group on Ravelry starting October first.

Sirkler sleeves with small circle pattern and increase every five rounds.

Haven't had much time to work on this this past week as I've been focusing more on Zauberflote. But I did want to establish the small circle pattern. I centered a circle at the top of the sleeve for symmetry. Now it's easy to pick up and knit a bit on it with the small circle chart. Since I'm doing both sleeves at the same time, I'm not bothering to record the increases. This is a design I will likely only knit one time, as the designer has another one I am already promising myself to knit next year. Saint Olav and His Men is a wonderful Scandinavian design and she even created a cardigan version for those of us on the Ravelry Stranded group - is that an awesome designer or what?!

First Whovian Argyle sock.

I'm now on the leg of the second sock and working right along. I really like how my mods to the pattern are working out!

Monday, September 02, 2013

Ready to start the toes on my first Whovian Argyles sock.

The sock fits perfectly - not too tight and not saggy. Toe will be in the Denim Blues to balance the yarn usage.

Sunday, September 01, 2013

Zauberflote sleeve progress, about halfway down the armhole.

I've been working diligently today on the first sleeve and am about at the halfway point down the armhole. I'm picking up in each row as I work down and it looks to be an appropriate rate at this point.

One thing I will do for the second sleeve is to make three copies of the main chart. Then I will use a fine point highlighter to draw the shape of the sleeve on the charts. That will make pattern continuity much easier.

Dumbledore's Christmas Stockings finished!

Finished doing the toes with The Grass Is Always Greener... Paula at Blue Moon got a perfect match. I'm wearing them today on my yarn crawl!

Friday, August 30, 2013

Paula at Blue Moon Fiber Arts is a master at matching colors!

Green yarn to finish toes on my Dumbledore's Christmas socks. Hope to get them done this weekend.

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Flower chart half done on Sirkler sleeves.

I'm going to increase every fifth round as I don't want the sleeves to be really large.

Friday, August 23, 2013

Sleeves ribbing for Sirkler cardigan.

Doing two-at-a-time on a sixteen inch circular so I don't stretch the ribbing out. I'm glad I decided to start with a dark color, it gives a better visual line to the bottom of the sleeves.

Thursday, August 22, 2013

Body of Tracy's Sirkler finished!

I finished the body tonight and am going to cast on the sleeves to be knit two-at-a-time so the color pattern matches on both sleeves. I'm now past the halfway point on my sweater! The sleeves have the small circles pattern over most of the length, so I'm hoping they knit up quickly.

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Whovian Argyles first sock with foot started.

I'm staying with the smaller needles for the foot for a snugger fit and I started the foot patterns as soon as I joined into a round for continuity.

Saturday, August 17, 2013

First Whovian Argyles sock on heel flap.

I'm doing my usual heel as I've found it works best for me. These socks and yarn are too special to use a heel that I am unsure will fit and wear well for me.

Friday, August 16, 2013

Redo of first Zauberflote sleeve

I ripped out the first try at my shaped sleeve cap because it wasn't going to match the way I wanted to. This try is looking so much better but I'll know better after I get more knit on it.

Moody Hose second repeat.

Moody Hose second repeat. by BlueDragon2
Moody Hose second repeat., a photo by BlueDragon2 on Flickr.

Easy to learn but impressive design.

Only four rounds to go and circle 5 is done!

Got the front neck decreases started today and just have 4 more rounds to knit on the 5th circle. Then the flower chart and the bottom pattern on the front and I'm ready to start the sleeves!

DH's Henry VIII cardigan progress on first pattern repeat.

DH loves how the colors are coming together and is hoping to wear his sweater this coming winter (best see what I can do to make that happen, lol!).
