'Simple' socks using STR LW Mill End.

I need something simple to work during my Mother's funeral and while chatting with friends. Also, I need to fill some holes in my sock drawer, lol.

STR Rare Gem for Dumbledore's Christmas Stockings KAL

Will cast on shortly for the KAL in the Socks That Rawk group on Ravelry. The yarn has grass green, medium blue, and deep red in it. I think the yarn and pattern will work together quite well.

Second sock finished 4-26-13, Mom's funeral is tomorrow so I got them done in time to wear there. I'm sure she can see these bright socks all the way from Heaven!

First Paragon sock done, second one almost to heel flap.

This is a great pattern, knits up quickly in STR yarn, shows off Tina's wonderful color ways, and fits great. If you're looking for a fun pattern, check this one out. I'm hopeful to get them done in time for Mom's funeral on Saturday. They're bright enough that I'm sure she's smiling in Heaven!

First Nutcracker mitten body halfway done.

So I haven't knit on it in a few days but wanted to post a progress photo.

I needed to cast on something new while I grieve for my Mom and rest, so decided to use this very bright colorway for the second quarter KAL on the Socks That Rock group on Ravelry.com. I'm knitting the 64 stitch version with the heavier STR LW yarn and they look like they are going to be just right for me. I might get them done in time to wear to Mom's funeral on Saturday. Don't worry, they won't really show under my slacks, lol.

DH's Valentine's Day socks done!

Had to dip into a skein of Meet Joe, Brown to finish the toes as DH wears a size 11 shoe but he's looking forward to wearing these.

Estonian braid on Nutcracker mittens

This is May's class project for my class series at Tangled Purls yarn shop in Salem, OR. Very calming to work as I deal with the issues surrounding my Mom dying slowly. There is no pain medication that can relieve her pain without killing her - why doesn't science respect end of life pain issues more? Anyway, she would love how the braid looks - red is her favorite color. I am so thankful to her for teaching me to knit when I was five - it is about the only thing keeping me sane at this point. I am dedicating my Zauberflote cardigan to her and working on it as I sit with her in the nursing home. I want to get this first mitten done to put in the shop for a sample, then I will work the second one in class to teach my students how to work the braid.

On third repeat of Zauberflote body - love the colors and the yarns!

I want to get to the armhole shaping on her before I start DH's Henry VIII kit, which arrived Wednesday. I love these purples!
