Tour de Fleece progress 06-29-13

About two ounces of 50%Merino/50% yak bought at Sock Summit 2011. A great kick off for TdF this year! A group of us met at Broadway Coffeehouse yesterday for a kick-off party and we had lots of fun. Luscious fibers, beautiful wheels and spindles, and lots of spinning - great day!

Simple Socks for Peace are done!

I knit these after my Mom passed away to have something simple to focus on and to keep my hands busy. I've lost fifty pounds in the last five years or so and chose not to go back to self-destructive eating patterns to cope with my loss. I'm very proud of the choices I made during this life transition time. Love you, Mom, and thanks again for teaching me to knit when I was five!

First sock of Dumbledore's Christmas Stockings finished.

I'll cast the second one on as soon as I finish my Simple Socks for Peace. I'm on the foot of the second sock now, might finish tonight!

Rovings I'm planning to spin during Tour de Fleece 2012.

I'm going to start with the green already on the bobbin and go from there. It would be great if I could get all of them spun and 2-plied during TdF!

Black Merino fleece bought at Black Sheep Gathering 6-22-13

5.8 pounds of luscious black Merino!

Sirkler Cardigan third circle almost done

Need to do about three more rounds and the third circle will be done. So I'm well past the halfway point on the body. I'm going to need to join in another ball and want to match the color repeat as close as I can.

Bottom border of Henry VIII finished.

I love how the colors are working together - the Starmores are color geniuses!

Fire in MW - seeing them in sunlight took my breath away!

Tracy's Sirkler Cardigan starting third circle.

Finally got a chance to pick up this project again and knit a few rounds on it. One of the things I really enjoy are the small circles, because they help the rounds go faster. I worked on this yesterday at WWKIP and got lots of attention on it. Simply wonderful design and using two colors of Kauni makes it easy for new stranded knitters to knit their first cardigan!

Body of Zauberflote done.

Now to crochet the armhole steeks, then pick up sleeve stitches before cutting the steeks open.

Zauberflote right shoulder bind off.

Had to fudge as one side was three stitches off at one end and the other side was off at the other end. But it doesn't show and will be fine.

Steek stitches cast off on body of Zauberflote.

That yarn end is all that's left of the skein of Limpet! Talk about close calls! Now I do a three needle bind off on the shoulders and I'll be ready to start the sleeves. I made my goal of finishing the body on vacation on the last day, but I made it. Now I'll have the circular needle free to cast on DH's Henry VIII using the kit he bought from Virtual Yarns last month. I'll knit mine in the original colors starting next January in a KAL, both on Ravelry, Mara_class on yahoo, and at Tangled Purls shop here in Salem.
